Born in Ice (Nora Roberts)

Glass artist Maggie Concannon is all smoke and fire, married to Rogan Sweeney and expecting their first child. Now it's time to turn the dial 180 degrees and meet her sister, cool, calm Brianna in Nora Robert's second installment of the "Born In" Trilogy.

Brianna owns the Blackthorn Cottage, a Bed and Breakfast she converted from her family's home. She uses all her talents, energy and resources to make her B&B a haven for her guests while playing referee between her head strong sister and her shrewish mother. Bree is an excellent cook, housekeeper, and hostess. Seh's the picture of icy coolness until an American mystery writer arrives at her establishment.

Grayson Thane plans to capture the beauty of Clare County as the setting of his next novel. An cool Irish miss, the proprietress of Blackthorn Cottage, catches his eye from the start and threatens his sense of independence. After living his life without family or roots, Gray find himself longing to awaken Brianna's hidden passions.

Some readers find fault with Brianna's inner strength, steady nature and willingness to risk loving Gray. I found him a perfect mate for her, a tender, caring man trying to deny his feelings for the woman with the cool facade. Nora Roberts blend this growning relationship with characters from the first book in the trilogy and artfully details a prelude to the final installment, Born in Shame.
